Managing IP will host a free web seminar, in association with Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services covering Internet liberalization: opportunities and challenges for IP owners

Last month, ICANN approved plans to open up the top-level domain space to a broader range of applicants. There are predictions the decision could lead to hundreds of new gTLDs being launched, bringing a risk of cybersquatting to IP owners.

This web seminar will look at the reality of the announcement and the gTLD application process. Our panel of experts will provide advice on how trade mark owners can protect their rights in TLDs, as well as consider the opportunities the changes represent. It will be held on August 6th at 12 pm and will feature speakers from Yahoo! Inc. DotAsia, Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services and other thought leaders.

Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services is a world leader in domain name registration and related online business solutions. Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services was one of the first 5 registrars accredited by ICANN in 1999, and is the fifth largest domain name provider. In May of this year, Melbourne acquired VeriSign Inc’s Digital Brand Management Services business unit to create the largest digital brand services company in the world.
