.UK Domain Tops Weekly Sales List In $650K Sale

Domain Name Journal logoThe year’s biggest reported ccTLD sale and seventh biggest overall for the year to date topped the Domain Name Journal sales chart for the week ending 31 July. The domain, furniture.co.uk, was sold for $650,000 and was brokered by Sedo’s Dave Evanson.

Evanson also brokered the week’s second biggest sale, that of broker.com, which sold for a very nice $375,000, while third was present.com, selling for $90,600, through NameJet.

The buyer of furniture.co.uk was Graham Haynes who bought bedroomfurniture.co.uk a few years ago for $57,500 and built a furniture sales business around the domain that now generates $7 million a year in sales, reported DNJ. Haynes also bought purple.co.uk for $155,520 in late May, which is now the year’s second biggest ccTLD sale.

DNJ also announced they had discovered that net.com was sold for at least $800,000, and possibly a lot more. But the domain is subject to a non-disclosure agreement.

There were 18 .com sales in the top 20 for the week with one each for .co.uk and .tech. On the aftermarket outlet, there were 10 sales through NameJet and seven through Sedo.
