
Over $148,000 has been donated to LGBTQ Community Beneficiaries GLAAD and CenterLink from .gay domain name registration revenue, according to the .gay Impact Report released this week. The registry, Top Level Design, donates 20% of all .gay registration revenue to the LGBTQ organisations.
The Report outlines the new gTLD’s community impact and giving through 2020, its first year of operation. To celebrate, .gay has also premiered a second season of its LGBTQ digital series, “The Library”, available globally on Revry, and at TheLibrary.gay.

.PL Celebrates 17 Years of IDNs

On 11 September .pl celebrated 18 years of Polish language internationalised domain names (IDNs), or as they put it, domain names “with tails”. The .pl domain Registry, run by NASK, was the first registry in Europe to implement IDNs. Currently, there are almost 30 thousand IDNs in the .pl domain registry, which constitutes about 1.12% of the registered names.
Scammers Attack .LT Registrants Again

The Internet Service Centre at Kaunas University of Technology – the .lt registry – is warning registrants to be aware of malicious people attempting to persuade .lt registrants to register domain names in other top level domains (.com, .org, .net, etc.).
The scammers claim to be from “IDS Lietuva” using a .net domain name, however there is no company named “IDS Lietuva” in the Lithuanian Register of Legal Entities.
RightOfTheDot and NamesCon Live Auction

One of the early pioneers of the domain name aftermarket, Monte Cahn, has announced bidding is open now for over 300 exclusively available super-premium domain names, with more being added daily in the RightOfTheDot Premium Online Domain Auction being held in conjunction with the upcoming NamesCon.
The online auction will be broadcast live from a professional video streaming production studio in South Florida. To attract the most attention and participation, the webcast will be streamed live from ROTD.hibid.com and will also be available to view on NamesCon.online and Youtube Live.
Following the live auction, RightOfTheDot will also conduct an online extended auction starting on September 24th with additional premium domains along with those that did not meet reserves in the live auction. This will be a timed auction without an auctioneer. The first lots in the extended auction will begin closing on 7 October.

Federal Trade Commission Announces Transition to IPv6

The United States’ Federal Trade Commission has announced [pdf] a timetable to transition from IPv4 to IPv6.
In a memorandum dated 1 September, the FTC says all information technology systems and services must be IPv6-enabled at the time of deployment by Fiscal Year 2023. It is also the strategic intent of the FTC to phase out the use of IPv4 for all current FTC systems as soon as practical by addressing Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memorandum 21-07 (M-21-07).
Tobias Sattler Talks to ShortDot About ICANN’s Upcoming Second Round Of New gTLDs
