What’s Been Happening At… EURid: Q4 2021 report, Greek Character .EU Domains to be Deleted, Continuing Checks for Nefarious COVID registrations, Dynamic Coalition on Data and Trust Annual Report, Surfrider Foundation Europe Support, Extra Registrant Verification Method and Vacancies

Catching up on what’s been happening at EURid is the focus of today’s post. Over the last three months EURid has released their 2021 fourth quarter report, released 48,000 .eu domain names that were previously registered to British registrants, announced Greek character .eu domain name registrations will be deleted (Greek character domains should be registered under .ευ), continued COVID-related domain checks for nefarious registrations to March with their APEWS, published the first annual report of the Dynamic Coalition on Data and Trust, published results of their 2021 Registrar Satisfaction Survey (positive), continued support of the Surfrider Foundation Europe, they currently have a vacancy open for Legal Counsel while the CEO position has closed and announced an additional verification method for providing evidence of a registrant’s identity. Phew!

The UN Digital Summit – IGF 2021 in Katowice is over

[Chancellery of the Polish Prime Minister news release] It is time to sum up this year’s prime digital event – the UN Digital Summit – IGF 2021, which closed on Friday in Katowice.

The substantive summary of the Summit – still a draft – is provided in a UN document entitled „Katowice IGF Messages”. Stakeholders can send their feedback about the points made in the document by 20 December.

Record-breaking UN Digital Summit in Poland – more than 10,000 participants from 175 countries

[NASK news release] A total of 2,688 participants came to Katowice for the IGF 2021 Digital Summit. The event was held between 6 and 10 December at the International Congress Centre. Participants debated the key challenges of today’s internet. The Summit was held as a hybrid event. A total of 10,300 people registered to participate in the event online and in person.

Over $148,000 has been donated to LGBTQ Community Beneficiaries GLAAD and CenterLink from .gay domain name registration revenue, according to the .gay Impact Report released this week. The registry, Top Level Design, donates 20% of all .gay registration revenue to the LGBTQ organisations.
