Legionnaires’ bug found in Playboy mansion hot tub following DomainFest after 123 fall ill

At the DomainFest evening event in February at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, over 100 people fell ill, with The Guardian reporting that the possible source is bacteria in the hot tub.Of the 439 people that attended DomainFest, the Los Angeles health inspectors have found 123 people reported pneumonia and flu-like symptoms “including fever, headache, cough, shortness of breath and aches. Sixty-nine people fell sick on the day of the party. Three tested positive for H1N1 flu.”Tests of water samples from the water in the hot tub identified the legionella bacterium, according to the Los Angeles health department. However The Guardian says that “Officials say the bug in the pool may not be the cause of the outbreak. In a statement the Los Angeles County department of public health said: “Though legionella bacteria was identified in a water sample taken from the Playboy Mansion, this bacteria has not been determined as the source of the respiratory outbreak.”Other potential causes under investigation include influenza, as three individuals who attended the conference tested later positive for the flu.”The full report in The Guardian is available at www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/apr/17/playboy-hot-tub-legionella-bacteria-found.

Ben Mezrich, Author of “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook” Speaks at DOMAINfest Global 2011

Featured Speaker at DOMAINfest Global 2011 Fireside Chat to Include Remarkable Stories and Insights into the Minds of Young Geniuses

[news release] DomainSponsor®, the domain monetization division of Oversee.net®, announced today that Ben Mezrich will be interviewed by Jeff Kupietzky, CEO and President of Oversee.net  at the fifth annual DOMAINfest Global® (DFG) event, scheduled for February 1-3, 2011 in Santa Monica, Calif.  Mezrich has created his own highly addictive genre of nonfiction, chronicling the amazing stories of young geniuses who become wealthy against tremendous odds while skirting the edges of morality.

Ben Mezrich latest book, “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal,” was released in 2009 and was optioned by Sony Pictures. DOMAINfest Europe Comes to a Close With DayTrading.com Selling for $200K

The business part of last week’s DOMAINfest Europe in Prague was finalised last week with more than 200 people in attendance. Both panels and networking sessions included very lively discussions on trends in European domain name and monetisation issues.

There was also a live auction that is now closed with several names approaching their reserves, including restaurant.com at $4.5 million.

There’s still strong interest in these premium domain assets and the auction is, as has been the developing trend, a buying opportunity but also a marketing platform for premium names — often sales close immediately after the auction as other parties learn of their availability.

The Moniker and SnapNames extended online auction will run for a full week, starting October 6 and ending October 13, 2010, at 15:15 US Eastern time.

Here are the auction results:
