Swedish Regulator Says No to Domains Including ‘Bank’… Unless You’re a Bank

The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS), responsible for monitoring the electronic communications and postal sectors in Sweden, has advised that only banks will be able to register domain names including the word “bank”

The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS), responsible for monitoring the electronic communications and postal sectors in Sweden, has advised that only banks will be able to register domain names including the word “bank”.

In the announcement, PTS advised the term “bank” is protected by law and may only occur in domain names registered by organisations that are classified as banks.
