Sony PlayStation comes under EU scrutiny

While Sony is left wondering how hackers got access to 77 million users’ information, several EU data protection authorities have begun examining whether the company has been collecting excessive data from its users.On 17 April, Sony noticed that a number of its accounts on the PlayStation gaming network had been hacked, including credit card details in some cases. At last count, 77 million accounts had been compromised. As a result EU authorities say they are looking into how much data the company stores and why.
