Sony breach sparks security alert: call for Australian laws to protect against Playstation-style attacks

Australia should fast-track laws protecting consumers following the hacking of 77 million gamers’ accounts of Sony PlayStation Network users, says a leading international security company.Steve Martin, Symantec Australia and New Zealand director of small and medium business, said Australian law requiring companies to tell consumers if their personal or financial details, including credit-card details, had been stolen “would go a long way” to improving the safety of Australians online.
