T.R.A.F.F.I.C., the domain industry’s premier conference, concluded its T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East 2007 show in dramatic fashion Friday, October 12, by announcing the winners of its annual We Get It! Awards. This year’s winners are Russian Standard Vodka and Steve Forbes, CEO of Forbes, Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Magazine and former presidential candidate (who also delivered the conference’s keynote address). The domain name and Internet traffic industry’s version of the Academy Awards, We Get It! is bestowed upon the organization or individual(s) that has best demonstrated an understanding of the power of domains and the Internet by attracting visitors, increasing sales and beating competitors in terms of Internet marketing.

In Russia and abroad, Russian Standard Vodka sells more than 1.3 million cases of vodka per year. The company is part of Russian Standard Group, a multi-faceted conglomerate of leading businesses in premium vodka, spirits distribution, banking and insurance that form the premiere consumer brand in Russia. “Domainers chose Russian Standard Vodka because they are pleased to see a retail company figure out the power of owning a generic domain that is also a category,” says Rick Schwartz, cofounder of T.R.A.F.F.I.C. and WADND. “Russian Standard Vodka is now the vodka king the world over. They have positioned their company to not only be the leader in vodka, but to take advantage of the tens of thousands of visitors that will be delivered to their door step in the form of type in traffic, forever. Steve Forbes was selected because he is an expert on investments and finance who understands the value of domains and Direct Navigation and embraced the Internet early on while others were a bit late to the game. The reward is 15 million monthly visitors who go to forbes.com.”

Each year the World Association of Domain Name Developers, Inc. (WADND), organizers of the three annual T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conferences, solicits nominations for the awards from its members, which includes anyone who has attended a T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference in the past. The shows bring together domain owners, search engine companies, leading registrars and pay-per-click aggregators with investors, advertising executives, industry analysts and others. This year WADND members, of whom 1,800 were eligible to vote, selected the We Get It! nominees and winners. In addition to Forbes and Russian Standard Vodka, UVME.com and Carson’s BBQ were also nominated for this highly coveted industry award. The 2006 winner was News Corp. In 2005 Bank of America won for eLoans.com.
