Russia’s presidential apparatus, the government, and the Federal Security Service will create mass media and internet monitoring systems. The project is estimated at 100m rubles (US$4.3mln). Some experts think the system will help fight extremism, others fear some officials will use it in their own interests.The Federal Agency for Information Technologies will create a center to monitor information resources on the Internet. The resources will be monitored from Federal Security Service’s portal. The work already underway will cost 56,85m rubles ($2,5m). The Electronic Russia project will also comprise a system to monitor mass media in the interests of Russia’s Presidents Administration and the government apparatus, the Agency reported.
