Newspaper publishers must accept the reality that paywalls are necessary as readers become increasingly digitised and circulation continues to fall.Research conducted by Citigroup in a survey of global trends and different models of paywalls in operations has concluded the move to the digital distribution of newspapers is “more a question of when (not if)”.
