Public Interest Registry will increase the wholesale fees for .org domain names by ten percent to US$6.75 on November 9. No reason has been given for the increase in PIR’s letter to ICANN.As per its agreement with ICANN, PIR does not require ICANN’s approval for any price increase and is allowed to increase its wholesale fee by 1.1 times the previous year’s fee.The proposed increase follows VeriSign announcement for an increase in .com and .net domain names. As of October 1, the annual wholesale fee for .com names will increase seven per cent to $6.86 and .net will increase ten per cent to $4.23.
