Telnic Limited telnic.org, the registry operator for the new .tel top level domain, today welcomed strong interest from online directory service providers for .tel domains.
Organizations that own trademarks from countries as diverse as the United States, France, South Africa, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom have applied for .tel domains including Yell.com, Yellow Pages, Les Pages Jaunes, Paginas Blancas, Lâannuaire and Les Pages Blanches.
âYellow page providers have clearly understood that the DNS is the ultimate database for managing and publishing live contact information globally,â commented Khashayar Mahdavi, CEO for Telnic. âWe are even more pleased to have been in conversation with several directory service providers who are considering becoming ICANN-accredited in order to provide their customers with .tel domains themselves.â
Applications from trademark holders are still being taken during the protected Sunrise period until February 2nd 2009, after which time anyone may purchase any available .tel domain in a first come, first served manner. For more information about .tel, please visit www.telnic.org.
