But Berlusconi is in a position to make a difference. Italy took on the rotating presidency of the G8 – the “Group of 8” most powerful nations – this month, and it will be Berlusconi and his officials who draw up the agenda for the next meeting of the rich nations’ club, in Sardinia on 9-10 July.
