Nominet is recruiting .uk domain name dispute resolution experts

Nominet logoNominet is looking to appoint 10 new independent experts to their Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) panel. Suitable candidates can be from any background involved in the Internet industry, mediation or arbitration. While it’s not spelt out in the information Nominet provides, I’d guess you would need to be located in the UK to be eligible.

Nominet describes their DRS as attempting to resolve all domain name disputes. The DRS does not replace the role of the Courts and is open to anyone. All cases, if unresolved, have the opportunity to proceed to an expert wholly independent of Nominet for a decision based on the DRS Policy and Procedure. They currently receive between about 80 new cases a month, of which approximately 25% proceed to an expert decision.

Independent experts are appointed by rotation with a fixed remuneration of £750 (excluding VAT) per case, which is paid by the complaining party.

Full details of this opportunity are available to download as a pdf file here.
