NominetÃÂ will hand over their management reins to Roelof Meijer, CEO of the SIDN, the .nl registry. The initiative is part of a charity support programme co-ordinated by the staff Charity Action Group, whereby Nominet auctioned off senior management positions to its members, allowing bidders the chance to run Nominet for the day.
The final bids in the job swap raised ã7,219. These bids have been matched by Nominet meaning the total amount raised for charity CLIC Sargent is ã15,436.
Lesley Cowley, CEO of Nominet comments: ââ¬ÅWe are delighted with the generosity of all those who bid. As well as raising money for an excellent charity it will be good fun to share jobs with Roelof and it gives us the chance to compare running .nl in the Netherlands to what itââ¬â¢s like to run .co.uk.ââ¬Â
Jennifer Webb of CLIC Sargent comments: ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢s great to see Nominet thinking creatively to provide funds for their chosen charity, and it seems like they have had a lot of fun running this auction. We wish Roelof all the best at running .uk for the day.ââ¬Â
Roelof Meijer said: ââ¬ÅThis is an excellent initiative from Nominet staff and it is a great opportunity for Lesley and I to compare notes, all the while raising money for a good cause.ââ¬Â
