On February 1, NIC Mexico will celebrate 20 years of .MX domain names with a special promotion of domain names for US$20 less than the normal price through accredited registrars.
There are currently 279,000 .MX domain names registered with rapid growth in recent years, with the first .MX domain name being registered on February 1, 1989. The domain name was itesm.mx.
It took 15 years to register the first 100,000 domain names and another 3.5 years to reach 150,000 domain names.

To celebrate this occasion, registrants will be able to register for US$20 less than the normal price, or $15 per year, through accredited registrars.
