Domain Name Wire reports of a record Sedo auction that netted over US$1.5M in .mobi domain names including the sale of music.mobi for US$616,000. Games.mobi sold for $401,500 and sports.mobi for $101,000, the only other six figure sale.

Domain Name Wire notes, “With prices this high, major investors clearly took part in the auction. Both “music” and “games” are prevelant on mobile phones, so it’s no surprise that these domains sold for a premium. But these prices were unexpected by even many of the biggest .mobi promoters.”
