A report from the University of New Hampshire’s Crimes against Children Research Center shows a significant decrease in “unwanted online sexual solicitation” as well as “unwanted exposure to pornography” in recent years among children ages 10 to 17 years old. There was a small increase in online harassment.Nine percent of respondents reported getting an unwanted sexual solicitation in 2010, compared with 13 percent in 2005 and 19 percent in 2000 — a steady decrease. The percentage of youth who reported an unwanted exposure to pornography was 23 percent in 2010, down from 34 percent in 2005. It was 25 percent in 2000. The study was based on three phone surveys conducted in 2000, 2005, and 2010.
