A federal jury said on Friday that Apple and Samsung had infringed on each other’s patents in some mobile devices but awarded most of the damages to Apple, in the latest court fight between the two technology giants. The jurors found that at least some Samsung devices infringed on two of four patents at issue. The judge in the case, Lucy H. Koh, had already ruled that Samsung infringed on a fifth patent. For infringing on the patents, the jurors concluded, Samsung must pay Apple $119.6 million in damages, far below the $2 billion that Apple had demanded in total.

An American jury has ordered Samsung to pay $119.6m to Apple for smartphone patent violations, far less than Apple had sought and marking a big loss for the iPhone-maker in the latest round of the two companies’ worldwide litigation.During the month-long trial in a US federal court in San Jose, California, Apple accused Samsung of violating patents on smartphone features, including universal search. Samsung denied wrongdoing. On Friday, the jury found the South Korean smartphone-maker had infringed two Apple patents.
