Microsoft certainly does know how to pick a fight and lose the PR battle. Microsoft has announced it is suing a company run by a Dutch mothers because it had begun using a Microsoft brand in its domain name. And what was this anti-Microsoft company doing? Well, developing computer programmes aimed at curbing children’s use of the internet.
“Microsoft has filed suit against Unicaresoft Corporation for violation of intellectual property rights in using our MSN brand,” said a spokesman for Microsoft’s Netherlands interests reports AFP.
“We filed suit to prevent the use of MSN in the name of the product and in the domain names on the Internet,” the Microsoft spokesman said.
