Internet access during the Beijing Olympics had not lived up to expectations, but the Games had helped open it up, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge said yesterday.Before the Games, the IOC said the media would be given open access to the internet in a country where it is regulated by the government.However, journalists soon discovered many sites remained blocked, including news sites such as the BBC Chinese service and sites relating to Tibet and the banned Falun Gong movement.
