ICANN Announces ICANN80 Policy Forum To Be Held in Rwanda

ICANN announced Thursday that Kigali, Rwanda, has been selected as the location for the ICANN80 Policy Forum, which will be held from 10 to 13 June 2024 at the Kigali Convention Centre. The last ICANN Public Meeting held in Africa was in June 2019.

The most recent ICANN Policy Forum was held last week from 12 to 15 June in Washington D.C. going forward ICANN78, which will also double as the annual general meeting, will be held in Hamburg, Germany, from 21 to 26 October 2023. ICANN79 is the first meeting for 2024 and will be the community forum, held from 2 to 7 March in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A list of all meetings, past and future, are listed here.

ICANN holds three Public Meetings each calendar year in different regions of the world to enable people from around the globe to participate in-person or online. ICANN Public Meetings are a central part of ICANN’s multistakeholder model, and provide a venue for progressing policy work, conducting outreach, exchanging best practices, negotiating business deals, and interacting with members of the ICANN community, Board, and organisation.

Usually comprised of more than 100 different sessions, these meetings are an important opportunity for individuals and representatives from ICANN’s various stakeholder groups to introduce and discuss issues related to the ICANN policy development process. Participants may attend either in-person or remotely. Meetings are open to everyone, and registration is free.
