ICANN Regional Meeting to Be Held in Dubai
ICANN will hold its regional meeting April 1-3, 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The meeting will discuss issues related to ICANN’s multi-stakeholder model and security, internationalized domain names (IDNs) technical developments and experiences, policies regarding the implementation of country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) and the process of the new generic top-level domains (gTLDs).

The three-day meeting is aimed at policy makers, managers of ccTLDs, representatives of the private sector particularly registries and registrars, Information Technology (IT) businesses and service providers.

ICANN is responsible for the global coordination of the Internet’s system of unique identifiers like domain names (like .org, .museum and country codes like .uk) and the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols that help computers reach each other over the Internet.
