If you’re wanting to know more about Universal Acceptance, ICANN is holding a second round of their “ICANN for Beginners: Universal Acceptance” (UA) webinars on 12 and 13 July 2023.
The webinar will introduce newcomers to the basics of UA, why it matters, and ICANN’s involvement in UA. Participants will also learn how they can get involved in UA initiatives.
“ICANN for Beginners: Universal Acceptance” is part of the new ICANN for Beginners Virtual Program, which comprises a series of interactive webinars that provide participants an overview of the global Internet ecosystem. The program also offers guidance on how newcomers can join the global community and help shape Internet governance.
Universal Acceptance, according to the Universal Acceptance Steering Group, “is a foundational requirement for a truly multilingual Internet, one in which users around the world can navigate entirely in local languages. It is also the key to unlocking the potential of new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) to foster competition, consumer choice and innovation in the domain name industry.”
“To achieve Universal Acceptance, Internet applications and systems must treat all TLDs in a consistent manner, including new gTLDs and internationalised TLDs. Specifically, they must accept, validate, store, process and display all domain names.”
The free webinars will be held on 12 July at 15:00 UTC (register here) and 13 July at 06:00 (register here).
