Huge Six-Figure Domain Sale Tops Weekly Chart

Domain Name Journal logoIt’s the year’s fourth largest sale to date and topped the Domain Name Journal chart of top reported sales for the week ending 29 May. Rate.com topped the weekly chart selling for a whopping $725,000 through Castello Brothers/Buckley Media Group. To date, the year’s top reported sale is la.com which sold for $1.2 million.

Coming in second was purple.co.uk, the year’s biggest ccTLD sale to date, and in many other weeks it would have topped the sales chart. The domain sold for £108,000 ($155,520) through Sedo. Coming in third was a much more modest sale – that of yh.top which sold for ¥200,000 ($30,400) Jiangsu Bangning, part of the huge Chinese demand for new gTLD domains.

There were 17 .com sales for the week along with one each for .co.uk, .top and .es. On the aftermarket side of things there were 17 sales through Sedo.
