Guardian wins three Webby awards, BBC two

Guardian News & Media today won three Webby awards, including best online newspaper website for the fourth time in five years.Other winners in the 2009 Webbys included the BBC, the New York Times, the Economist and the Huffington Post.As well as being named best newspaper website, GNM’s website network guardian.co.uk, which includes MediaGuardian.co.uk, won the Webby for best podcasts and came out on top in the religion and spirituality category for the Comment is Free blog’s Belief subsite.

The BBC News website has scooped two gongs in this year’s Webby Awards, which reward excellence on the net.It won both the official Webby and the People’s Voice award in the category of best news site.Last year it lost out to the New York Times, which this year was compensated with the Best Copy gong.
