NIC.EC, the .EC (Ecuador) domain registry have announced a special promotion for new .ec domain name registrations. Till the end of October, new .ec domain names can be registered for US$17 per year for up to five years under .ec as well as com.ec, net.ec, org.ec, edu.ec, info.ec, pro.ec, fin.ec and med.ec.
Additional benefits NIC.EC are promoting with a .ec registration are the domain name will be added to www.webs.info.ec, described as the most complete directory of Ecuadorian Sites as well as a free forwarding service.
A few things to note:
- there is a VAT of 12%
- the promotion only applies to new registrations
- the promotion does not apply to renewals
- there is a limit of 200 .ec domain registrations per registrant for this special promotional price
- it is not necessary to have a business in or be a resident of Ecuador to register a .EC domain name.
