Together with the country code registries of Italy (.it), Belgium (.be), Slovenia(.si), Lithuania (.lt) and Croatia (.hr) the German domain registry DENIC eG has joined the country code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) of ICANN. The ccNSO is the forum for country code registries within the ICANN.
As Sabine Dolderer, member of DENIC’s Executive Board said, the Executive Board believes that a joint administration and coordination of the central Internet resources by the industry concerned and by all relevant stakeholders is the right way. “Moreover, we have always supported the model of industrial self-regulation also on an international level.” So joining the ccNSO is a logical step towards formally contributing to this self-organization as the DENIC registry and to help in shaping it in the future.
