Data protection watchdogs escalate complaints against search engines

A coalition of Europe’s data protection authorities has urged the Federal Trade Commission to consider the compliance with US law of the search data retention and anonymisation policies of Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft.The Article 29 Data Protection Working Party has also written to the chief executive of each company, calling on them to improve the protection of the online privacy of their users.
