The new head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, David Irvine, has identified cyber-espionage as a growing national security risk and warned that electronic state secrets are under constant threat of theft by foreign countries and non-state entities. In his first public address since taking office in March, Mr Irvine signalled that cyber-espionage and terrorism headed the list of challenges facing the nation’s spy agency. He said that governments and businesses had moved much of their work to the digital medium and should be ”afraid of cyber-Greeks bringing gifts”.
