Countries will develop private internet ‘segments’, Russian cyber expert warns

Russian cyber security expert Eugene Kaspersky has warned revelations by National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden will push countries into developing their own private internet “segments” in an effort to protect themselves against cyber espionage.Mr Kaspersky – whose company Kaspersky Labs is well known within the IT community for combating worldwide computer viruses such as Stuxnet, which hit Iranian nuclear facilities in 2010 – said splitting the internet into public and private arms would be a dangerous development.
