The Colombian Ministry of Communications is searching for a new operator of the .CO registry opening a tender for the contract.
The new registry administrator will be in charge of promoting the .CO ccTLD, management and technical operations for .CO domains although the Ministry will maintain responsibility for policies and the monitoring the operations.
As part of the tender, the policy will include enabling registrations of domain names at the second level directly under .CO. The government also envisions substantial reductions in the cost of .CO domain names, possibly as much as 80 per cent.
Tenders are invited from companies with the required expertise in running a registry from around the world.
