China-US agreement on cybersecurity ‘badly needed’

The US and China often engage with each other on thorny topics such as the treatment of internal dissidents, North Korea and the rate of the renminbi to the dollar. But the distrust surrounding cyberwarfare remains so great that the two rival world powers communicate principally via proxies.Five times in the past two years, semi-official “Track II” meetings have been held in Beijing or Washington. Academic institutions and think-tanks lead the talks, while military and diplomatic leaders appear as observers.
