Australian government urged to join net fightback against online piracy

Canberra is being urged to take up the fight against online piracy following a renewed push in international jurisdictions to clamp down on illegal downloading and file sharing.As the Rudd government continues to push its national broadband initiative — which could radically increase download speeds, and following Hollywood’s loss to internet service provider iiNet over a landmark copyright case — there is an increasing sense of urgency for better rules governing the information superhighway.
