Australian Google appeal case could reshape law

Google, one of the most powerful players in the advertising world, needs to be held responsible for ambush marketing carried out by its customers, the consumer watchdog told the Federal Court, in a case that could shape trade practices law.Lawyers for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission appeared in court yesterday for the first day of an appeal against a decision that cleared Google of blame for allowing the Trading Post to post ads using the names of car dealers that were its competitors.
