Australian data law ‘threat to privacy, sources’

Media bosses and internet indus­try groups have called on the government to urgently press the pause button on controversial metadata legislation, warning that the bill will irrevoc­ably harm freedom of speech and privacy.The head of the Internet Soc­iety of Australia, a non-profit group dedicated to the development of the internet, said the measures remove the right to protect anonymous sources.
