au: AFACT retreat reveals ignorance: iiNet

A group of entertainment companies conducting a landmark copyright claim against iiNet in the NSW federal court has withdrawn part of its case against the internet service provider.The group of 34 local and overseas music and movie entertainment companies has withdrawn allegations that iiNet engaged in primary acts of copyright infringement when its customers illegally shared movies on its network.

The Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft’s (AFACT) legal action over iiNet’s alleged breach of copyright took a further watering down today as the film studios removed the “primary” copyright infringement claim.
