Asian Businesses Get Ready for Data Explosion

A study by data storage giant EMC indicates that Asia’s digital data will grow at a compounded annual rate of 57% between 2006 and 2010Ron Goh, EMC’s president for South Asia, told ZDNet Asia Friday that large enterprises in the region, particularly from industries such as finance, telecommunications and healthcare are “very aware” of the data explosion phenomenon and are taking steps to address the issue.Findings of an EMC-commissioned study released last month indicate that digital data will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 57 percent between 2006 and 2010, to reach 1.8 zettabytes or 1,800 billion gigabytes.
