Andreas Musielak, currently Chief Operating Officer at DENIC, will be heading from Frankfurt to Salzburg mid-year to take on the role of Commercial Managing Director and CEO at nic.at, the Austrian registry announced Tuesday.
A successor had been sought for the current CEO of nic.at, Richard Wein, who had announced he would be retiring in August 2025. Wein commenced in the role in mid-2000, in the middle of my short stint at the Austrian registry, and after 25 years decided it was time to retire.
Musielak has worked for DENIC, the German .de registry, since May 2014, when he assumed the then newly created position of Chief Operating Officer and member of the Executive Board. He worked alongside Dr. Jörg Schweiger, who had recently moved from the role of Chief Technical Officer to CEO, until he stepped down at the end of 2021, replaced by current CEO and Executive Board member Thomas Keller. Prior to joining DENIC, Musielak had an extensive background in the fields of finance and commercial management and worked for three years with WAN-IFRA, the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) prior to joining DENIC.
Musielak will commence his new role with nic.at on 1 July for a short handover period before Wein departs. During his time at DENIC, Musielak was responsible for finance, human resources, legal affairs, as well as for member and customer relationship management. He will continue to focus on these areas at nic.at and develop them further, according to a statement from nic.at. The statement says Musielak is particularly keen to continue the close and cooperative partnership with all .at registrars. As the new CEO, he wants to maintain an open dialog with all partners and collaboration to expand and advance the position of .at on the internet.
The dual leadership of nic.at’s management, that has been in effect since Wein joined the company in July 2000, will continue and Robert Schischka will remain Chief Technical Officer, a role he commenced in 2003.
