A survey by the Office for National Statistics has found that 40 per cent of web users have uploaded photos and videos to sites such as Facebook and YouTube in the last year, up from 24 per cent in 2008.Scotland has the lowest internet uptake, with just 62 per cent of households online, compared to 80 per cent of homes in London. Around 37 per cent of UK homes cannot access the internet through a broadband connection, often because they are in a rural location too far from a telephone exchange.
