Delegates at the Connect Africa conference in Kigali, Rwanda are searching for ways to help more Africans take advantage of the worldwide web.Fewer than four out of 100 Africans currently use the internet, and broadband penetration is below 1%.Dr Hamadoun Toure, head of the International Telecommunication Union says this is unacceptable and he has called for “immediate action”.The meeting has brought together representatives from organisations such as the World Bank, World Health Organization and United Nations, as well as high-profile technology leaders such as Intel’s chairman Craig Barrett.
