The CZ.NIC association, administrator of the .CZ national top-level domain, registered yesterday at 22.20 the 400,000th domain. The domain registration speed has increased significantly since the last year’s 2 October when the association launched their own registration system for the .CZ and .ENUM domains named FRED (fred.nic.cz). Over 74,000 domains have been registered in this system from the last year’s October.
“The interest in .CZ domains went up mainly due to our simplified registration process. The new process has been allowing to obtain domain addresses in a simpler way for more than five and a half months now,” commented OndÅej Filip, managing director of the CZ.NIC association, adding that: “ÂThe number of domains registered from the system launch until the current date roughly matches the number of domains registered between January and October 2007, i.e. over 9 months.”
The number of domains that have been registered in the new system is distributed evenly between private individuals and companies. Both groups account for about one half of over 74,000 new domains.
