The Internet and Jurisdiction Policy Network released their first-ever Global Status Report in Berlin on 27 November 2019.
The launch of the pioneering Global Status Report took place at this year’s Internet Governance Forum, presenting the work of the Internet and Jurisdiction Policy Network at large. This covers information on the mapping of trends, actors and initiatives regarding the potential cross-border legal challenges that could be encountered in cyberspace.
The report contains information based on in-depth research and an unprecedented data collection from over 150 key stakeholders, including various states, internet companies, technical operators, civil society, academia and international organisations coming from five different continents.
50 years after the internet was created, this report shows an increasing number of public and private regulatory initiatives aiming to address transnational issues. These range from disinformation and security to data protection and artificial intelligence.
The Internet and Jurisdiction Policy Network will set up a Brussels-based workshop on 17 December 2019 in order to provide organisations, companies, civil society and other European stakeholders with the opportunity to discuss the report as well as any issues associated with the work carried out by the network.
