For more than a year, Facebook was aware of a major privacy breach affecting millions of its users and failed to fix it, despite repeated private requests to do so, an internet security expert has revealed.

Security consultant and blogger Nik Cubrilovic said last night he had pointed out to Facebook repeatedly for a year that it was collecting information about websites users were visiting after they had logged out. Facebook has admitted its browser cookies remain active after a user logs out of the social network.
