Vint Cerf: the internet is going into space

Shane Richmond meets one of the internet's founding fathers, Vint Cerf, who talks about the importance of curiosity and how the internet is going into space.

Vint Cerf is sitting in a meeting room in Google's London office, telling a group of schoolchildren about his career in technology and talking about the future of the internet. As one of the men who invented the internet - or at least, one of the key technologies that makes it work - Cerf is better qualified for this job than most.

In the 1970s, Cerf and his colleague Bob Kahn began working on ways to transfer packets of data between computers and networks. The technology they eventually developed, TCP/IP, is at the heart of the internet today.
